Default Stop a player from re-signing with his club

If got a few player that i'm interested in having a look at. I want to offer them trials to see if they are any good. The player i want to trail are all in the last year of their contracts. And i want them to trail with me before they sign anything so i know whether to make a bid.

Is there anyway to stop them from signing a new contract without offering one yourself??

Preferably i'd like for them to finish out their contracts and then trail with me. How can i do this??

Or is there no other way other than declaring you want to sign them so that they dont re-sign with there club??

How would that work ?

A player isnt going to wait around for you to make your mind up before securing his contract.

You can declare interest in a player through player interaction. That is as far as you can get though. There is no way you can stop him from signing a new contract unless you manage to unsettle him at the current club.

As far as I know you cannot offer a player a trial when he's currently contracted to a club. You will have to wait to see if he gets a free transfer or perhaps you could offer to take him on loan with a clause specifying a future fee.

You can offer a trial to a player whilst he is under contract with a club, but the club he is at can reject it if they want.

Yeah, i've traied that but it never works. The player can be used in squad rotation or backup but they still wont let him trail. This is kinda annoying, and leds me to ask why FM would add this feature if it doesn't even work.

the feature is there because it is possible in real life, but just like in FM it is very rare that a club will allow a player to go on trial to another club unless they are desperate to get rid of the player.

The trial option is there to give trials to un attached players. Very realistic.

In RL, manager give trials to players without a club, play them in a friendly or just training and make a decision from there.

Most LLM players use this option, giving a player a trial, getting coach reports and making a decision whether to sign him.

It also works with players with clubs, for example young players from lower league teams sometimes go to the big teams for trials.

Also Freddy Adu went to ManU for a trial, but ManU didn't sign him. Went to Benfica (why???)

Yeah i guess, but i just would have thought that when a player is not even a first team player but a backup or used in rotation then they moight be more likely to let him trail, but they dont.

I'll see if they let someone that is "not needed by the club" and then i'll report back for anyone else who might be interested.
