maybe i would point out that they arent really doing it for one customer..... they are doing it for quite a lot of customers..... in an attempt to save face from something they knew needed to be fixed.
What I have always been impressed is their contact with us, when they could just as easily hide away. Thats been the important thing to me, I couldnt care less how many of the staff prefer working at night

| i accept your point about it not being just one customer. still think it would have been far easier for them to leave it till tomorrow tbh.
i dont think they usually work at night, if i had to bet i would say that the guys there now have been there since 8 or 9 am wed morning
Cheers

i thought it was handled really well.
i was never one for coming on and slating the fact that a patch wasn't made available and was happily surprised when a beta version was there.
after that the game was indeed playable, and apart from a few niggly problems, was enjoyable.
and now the fact that it's now out, people might calm down a little, although i'm sure some are gonna find other reasons to rant and claim the game to be "unplayable" again

| If I had to guess I think they had the match on tonight with a few beers, a celebration (before they found out the result) and lots of crossed fingers that a ton of new bugs aren't discovered. If you're gonna stay in the office this late then there's no excuse not to have beer and pizza |

No complaints about the patch issue, I'm sure everyone at SI and Sega have worked really hard to produce the patch, more or less in the time frame given. (can you tell there is going to be a but) But (there you go)
Was there any/enough outside beta tests on the original FM08? Gold/beta whatever..?

with regards to the testing......
there is only one product i know of with a 100% succes rate AFTER testing, the Honda V-Tec engine. several million produced and ot 1 engine failure yet, amazing
all our product is rigorously qc'd andstill we have a 'failure rate of approx 4%, which is by far the lowest in our market....
in short.... testing is not foolproof

The incremental patches were a great idea; they weren't the finished products but they cleared up the nastiest bugs that I'd come across such as the promotion overachieving one. It allowed me to carry on with my game so really that's all I ask!

It's quite simple really:
If biggest moaners would have had their way and got their "official patch" two weeks after release, needles to say patch wouldn't be nearly as complete as it is now.
Of course game should have not been released on that bugged state, that is right, but surely wouldn't help to rush into it. So, release wasn't handled best of ways since it was unplayable to many, but the way patch was handled was good. |
