Default Official Patch - Gutted - Game Over - No Change?.

I had this crazy childish notion that the patch was going to fix what i believe were and still are the biggest bugs in the game?.

Sadly i have found out that nothing much has changed.

I decided to have another go with Arsenal as a tester before hopefully starting a career game with a low-mid table side, my thinking was that it should be more blatant if things are still not right using a Club that is expected to do well and has an Ocean of talent in their squad?.

Even after just 5 friendlies, 2 Prem and 1 CL Qualifier it is obvious that there are still major problems with the following?.

Although players are closing down(which they were doing anyway pre-patch), i still cannot get them to put a tackle in often enough. I have again tried using HARD tackling throughout, but even against teams with little quality it is obvious that we are backing off and thus, the opposition still knock the ball about for fun.

I have removed all CF throughout the team and set long shot instructions to rarely throughout, but my AMC and MC's will still punt from distance when there is a much simpler pass on, funnily enough i dont think it would make much difference as in 6 of the 8 games i've played so far the opposition gk has "put on a gk clinic today" and this is mainly due to my strikers hitting the ball straight at him when they do get in behind?.

When the opposition clears a ball from the penalty area it amazes me that it always falls to one of their own players, yet when Toure or Gallas etc clear their lines you can bet your bottom dollar that it goes straight back to the opposition and you often see a game of ping pong being played on the edge of the area.

There are others too, but i could carry on in spite of them, but i'm fighting a losing battle, especially with the top two problems i've mentioned and i just cannot eke out any enjoyment whatsoever from the game in this state.

Like i said before the Official Patch came out, i've spent time testing sliders from one end to the other, but it makes NO difference whatsoever?.

What the hell am i going to do with my spare time from now on?.

Gutted.

*Signs*....why there are always.....just like I predicted, some people who are unhappy before the patch will also be unhappy after

I did realize shot on-target rate of shots have reduced, dont you?

and you surely should read the fix list
"defenders are now more capable of dealing with players running at him" I note a huge improvement. I specifically leave a saved game before Arsenal Vs Man Utd where Man U plays Rooney and Tevez. Before the patch Rooney and Tevez and Ron and Giggsy can run at my defenders with ease. Now they still do run but the success rate of actually going past my defender has fallen.

Perfectly understand, but did you try to reinstall the game and then apply the patch before game start? Maybe that way would be a little bit better.

I am also not so confident in final patch as it is made in a fast and pretty histerical way. That can't be good, not for us and not for SI.

Maybe this version of FM is a lesson for everyone. FM09 would certainly be a crossroad.

Oz

Hope

No offense, really, but pressure is pressure.
Whole this thing is very sensitive from MPOW. Fooball Manager players are mostly fanatical players for years, I know some having more than one copy for any case ( :eek. I think that SI has made something which they cannot afford to do according to their reputation and tradition. Therefore, I beleieve that we all expect from FM09 to be balanced as a first thing. Graphics, skin, sounds, minor data issues, that's not a big deal really, but when I see so much very very unrealistic things during a game, that really puts me off.

So SI, I wish you all the best (if it's not too earl) for a New year, take a rest and jump into a new year with a cold head and make us delighted with the next version of this wonderful game.

Good luck,
Oz

Fast ?

Its been 3 or 4 weeks in the making hasnt it ?

They have clearly not rushed this out so thats not true....

As to the original poster, I noticed a big improvement in closing down.

Is it me or do some people expect the opposition to be successfully tackled ?

If they do, that would make it unrealistic wouldn't it? Even the best defenders in the world can't make tackles at 100% success rate.

Are you playing a 'full game' on the 2d engine or extended highlights?
