For Sale - My Copy of FM08 - (been a fan since day 1, but finally time to quit).
I promised myself that after the last two awful releases(FM06 and FM07), if FM08 was'nt up to scratch, then it was time to move on, as i found i was only giving the game the time of day because of my love of previous early instalments.
This game has sadly become nothing but a farce, it bares scant resemblance to real life and has not improved in its last 4 releases, the 2d match engine is so flawed that they may as well have gone back to the text across the screen, it looks awful, it plays awful and its just a matter of time before everyone else realises this too and the game will finally die a death.
You simply cannot keep regurgitating the same rubbish year in and year out making the same costly mistakes and expect your fanbase to accept it. I would have been happy paying for an update year in year out, as long as they spent this time improving things along the way. Most of the new features are again a drag and quickly become boring, without the fact that each one is bugged to hell and takes 2 or 3 patches to try to fix and still end up with something that does'nt work as intended.
SI should have just made a massive effort to clear the game of bugs rather than adding to them with new features and a strange attempt to overwrite the previous two match engines which were coming along however slowly.
Now, very little in the game correlates with real life football and the matchday experience is simply the be all and end all of just how tedious the game has become and i'm certain that the reason most people just like to plug and play with a tactic, has less to do with the time consumption involved and more to do with how torturous it has become to sit and watch sit and watch the most bizarre scenarios over and over again, to the point where its becomes as tedious as playing Pong on the old Atari console.
Almost every single match i have sat and watched on recent FM's have been so alike that sometimes i forget which version i'm playing and what year it is?. It usually consists of me dominating games and peppering the oppositions goal for 90 minutes plus, only for it to all hinge on a split second decision that bears absolutely no resemblance to the match i've just watched.
So thats it for me anyway, i thought as a loyal fan for so many years i deserved to have my say on my way out of the Managers Office for the last time, although i expect this like many other threads that could have led to this game being great once again will be closed and quickly forgotten, if thats the case, then i can imagine the same thing happening with FM in the not too distant future?.
The bidding starts at 1p.

On this site you cant slate SI or FM without fanboys jumping on you from a great height.
I have to admit that I am of the opinion that this game simply shouldn't have been released when it was. If you look at the list of fixes in the patch - some of the mistakes, yes mistakes, were embarrassing for SI.
Even now with the infamous full patch - there are still problems, yes the match engine is improved and it plays better, but just because it runs slightly smoother and your defenders defend, doesn't mean that the game is fixed - There are still far too many shots, too many super human efforts from VERY average goalkeepers (for example my under 18 keeper who is gash, stopping my strikers in 20+ shots in a row during a friendly).
Also, the finances have been tweaked, but not fixed, these tweaks, for my teams anyways, have ruined my chances of signing any players from the start of the season - If i sign any decent players, I will end up around 5-9m in the wrong direction. Not good enough!!!

I'd admire the fact he at least bought the game and gave it a chance...
Playing the demo alone was enough for me to know i will never buy this current game, i wont even play it if its given to me as a present.
The fact is this game is just not enjoyable to play anymore imo. Long gone are the days when i could easily sit and play these games for ridiculous amounts of time, go to bed and repeat the process the next day.
Far too many of the new features become very very boring very quickly and the aspects of the game which are claimed to be improved every release are clearly not. EG: Does adding a couple of extra options to the team talks constitute improving it? when no matter which bloody option you pick they never listen to you anyway!!
This game is on a major slump SI. Its going to take a MASSIVE improvement in fm09 to keep alot of people who have been up until now, loyal supports of the franchise.
