Default How do you get players match fit before a season?

I had asked a siilar question a few weeks ago. Cos every time I start a new season my players all get extremely tired and their condition is always at about 90% for the next match.

I was told I should give the players intensive aerobic and strength training. But how can you give your player intensive training and at the same time play friendly matches? Wouldn't lots of players get injured due to severe fatigue?

Thx

the moment your players return from pre-season training arrange friendlies. If you do minimum of 1 per week right up until the start of the season and make sure you use most of your subs as you dont have a sub limit in friendlies, you should find they are easily match fit by the time the first game comes.

I'll tell you what I do and for me it works!

I do about 15 friendly games in the summertime.

So that's every 2 or 3 days a match!

I send always my best 11 and the shadow team to such matches.

Each team will play 45 minutes.

Nobody get exhausted and everybody is ready for the season.

It happens a lot that young players grow very fast and become better than my first choice...

Never was in trouble with this procedure.
Sometimes I have to send 1 or 2 players on an extra vacation for 1 week in April or something.

Oh and btw I win a lot, I won already everything.

Six friendlies will do. Players only need three or four games to get match fit, so that is plenty to get 18-20 players fit and the rest can get fit in the reserves.

For the first two make subs at half time, 60 minutes and 75-80. Then rotate a three of four players, then another three or four. I tend to play my hardest game fifth, so go with the strongest team. The first eleven should definitely be fit by this point. The last game is a confidence booster against a bunch of nobodies, so anyone not fit who is likely to be in the first 16 starts.

The remaining players are stuck in the reserves, where I usually have a friendly in the last week before the season. This gets the players fit enough if I have to call them up to the bench for any reason.

The teams in my country are doing more matches in the summertime.

IRL, they do often 15 games. And no, not all players are playing 15 times 90 minutes.

I used the summertime to experiment and also new players really need more than 3 or 4 games to get used to the team and its playing style.
