I am not too sure whether this is an issue or it is meant to be like this.
My specs:
Intel Pentium D Core2Dual 3.00GHZ
2.5G RAM
Windows XP
| Intel Core2Duo E6850 @3.0Ghz 1333
4GB XMS2 Pro
No problems here, patched to 8.0.1. running at about 2% and an average of 50% usage across the cores under full load.
Clearly not SI then.

Nothing has changed in terms of how the processing works, so there shouldn't be any difference in behaviour. In addition to that, if this is a problem (ie it uses 90-100% CPU always) then everyone should be experiencing this.
You should be aware that the game will sometimes use CPU even if you are not continuing the game as it will process certain things in the background when it can.

Mine is fine too.
Idles at 0% and goes up to 100% or so when it is processing.

Id be surprised if your CPU never rises above 12%, it should certainly spike to 80-100% at times or its not being utilised properly....

In my experience, and I'm by no means a tech geek, but running in a windowed mode tends to be more CPU intensive, that may be a contributing factor, PLUS, if you've got other background programs, the biggest being anti-virus, anti-spyware programs, when they run is fairly random, and you may be seeing some of that result.

Thanks guys for your replies. Thanks to Boah for the clarification too. I will try the msconfig setting according to Michael Foster's post when I get home. Cheers.

im guessing you are running a pc thats a few years old.
as much as i bagged SI for screwing up the release with the bugs, this time they've done a stirling job.
lets not start dreaming up new problems </BLOCKQUOTE>
The original poster has a dual 2 core processor, hardly old.
Before criticising people for dreaming up problems you could consider that just because you havent got the problem others may do so... </BLOCKQUOTE>
dual core 1.5 mhz?? don't play the white knight until you can confirm the speed of his CPU.
what about his ram? is he running vista? please check and then we'll continue this truly fascinating conversation.
