Start > run> then type msconfig into the box, then it brings up the system config utility
click on startup (accross the top) then untick any applications you dont need to have running when your pc starts up)

I am not sure if it's a good idea to reccomend msconfig tweaking for someone who don't have a clue about how to see a cpu usage or so.
I can smell some crashed pc's tonight...
