This is the best smash and grab ever! Slight possession in my favor, but they have better passing, tackling, and headers percentage completed. I started the game with a 4-1-3-2 sort of formation. 4 defenders, 1 dm, 3 am's(amr/l, and amc with farrow) and two strikers(aguero and ibrahimovic). Seven minutes in, Zlatan scores and I notice he has a knock. So since I'm up a goal, I decide to try a new approach to stall in midfield, so i introduce hargreaves in the form of another dm, alongside mascherano. Now I am playing a 4-2-3-1. Within minutes my players started counter-attacking very very effectively, scoring loads, and not really missing either. Out of seven shots, six were on target and all found the back of the net. When I played with Valencia away, I beat them 2-0 so its not really their players or anything. Villa, Zigic, Vicente, Joaquin, Silva, and co. are all playing.
Now I just have to find out which ****** missed their one shot so I can give them a two weeks fine
Couldn't brake through the Valencia defense in the second half. I didn't really have that many chance since this is mainly a defensive formation. The Valencia Manager had obviously straightened his players out at half time because they performed a somewhat better in the second half. My players, up by 6, obviously felt no need to add more. I felt like I was in an alternate universe. The AI and I had switched roles. They were missing sitters left and right, and I was scoring from every chance I got.
Well, I'm delighted with this match. I sure as hell know that if Valencia had done this to me, I would be extremely mad and flaming SI on these forums right now. :p
it works because
- you have a good keeper and a very good defense that can stop the opposition any time
- the two dm's are excellent i there positions so they performer very well clearing balls and feeding the counter attacks with long balls
- the amc can create massive holes in the defense by pulling them wide or penetrating in the middle
- the lone striker is a goal machine that simple
it's not that hard with high flying clubs to get results
in my barcelona game playing with 4 defenders 1 dm 2 mc 2 wingman and a lone striker
henry managed to score in this formation 55 games 65 goals impressive
but it was at a very good team with world class players. when i tried this tactic at a smaller club whe sync because there where no quality dm or that good striker etc
so it might work what you suggest but only in some cases
