Similar thing happened when I was looking after my sister’s cats on new year’s eve.
They’d brought in a mouse and took it under the Christmas tree where I couldn’t get to them. Spent ages trying to get it off them but couldn’t get close enough.
Eventually the mouse made a run for it so I trapped it under a bowl and took the cats out of the room, before letting the mouse into the street where it ran off. The cats then went out of the cat flap and came back later with another mouse but this time I just decided to let them have it so left them alone.
Later on while I was in bed I heard this horrible gurgling sound but didn’t think too much of it. Woke up later to an awful smell and had a look round to find that one of the cats had thrown up the remains of the mouse into my sister’s clothes hamper.
Rather than clean it up, I decided to just spray it with deodorant and leave it for my sister to sort out when she got home.

The cat's possibly bringing the mouse in as a friendly gesture towards you. "Watch me hunt, aren't I clever, brought you a mouse" etc.
So you should watch intently, then reward the cat and give it squinty eyes as you both bathe in mouse blood.

Our cats tend to catch rabbits instead.

I rescued a mouse from our 3 cats, getting my hand scratched in the process, I went outside to set the little fella free and he bit me, so I threw him back to the cats.
