Did the bike give consent to this act occuring ? If not it could go a long way to explaining the severity of the punishment tbh.

there's got to be more to the story surely. No way is being disturbed whilst masturbating with an inanimate object an offence.
He must have said something, or carried on for a while after being disturbed, or perhaps the prosecution argued that he intended and allowed himself to be disturbed or something. Can't believe this is all there is to it.
