There a difference between being in your eyesight, and being down the street for an hour? </BLOCKQUOTE>

An hour? What does that matter? You only have to be negligent for the minute or two that's unlucky enough to count.

It shows that they are not the normal run-of-the-mill Brit holidaymakers. They are both well educated and should know better than leaving children alone in hotel rooms.

In terms of an hour (imo) is a long time to leave a 3 year old in a hotel room by herself while you are away down the street.
Obviously that's just me though by this thread, so fair enough

Sympathy for the failures and vitriol for the successes?

Though I admit the only thing I can think of that educated people might be doing on the Algarve is an attempt to mag to grid one kid.

Not saying it's good. I'm saying it happens and the vast majority of people get away with it just fine. These two didn't. So I wonder why a father who ****s up on the road and loses a kid is covered in sympathy, while this chap is being ostracised?

Wait a minute Bert, just because they "get away with it just fine" doesn't excuse what is, in all honesty, parental negligence. I would never dream of leaving a three year old locked in a room somewhere while I went off to eat at a restaurant elsewhere, and I'd hope neither would anyone else responsible for a child.

Or rather unlocked, with the door open for anyone to walk in (or her to walk out)

Thought one of your complaints was the door was open rather than locked?

18 years is a long time never to **** up in. Don't think anyone at all here can boast they've managed it, can they?
