I often collect one of mine on the way home from work, as he likes to sleep in a nearby greenhouse, and bites the owner if she tries to shift him.

Looks just like the cat that adopted us one night when I lived in Norwich. He had been in and around the car park for a while, but looked healthy because he's so big and fluffy. One night he was really screaming, and we put some food out - my auntie picked him up, and underneath the fluff he was skin and bones. 6 years later, he's still around, and an 'official' member of the family now

Can understand why he was a stray though. Somewhat antisocial - brought something huge in one day, we thought he'd caught a rat or a rabbit - turned out it was a steak from someone's barbeque

When I go up there, he likes to sit on my lap and watch the snooker

Cat's basically saved my relationship.

In the early days of it, me and the missus had a blazing row over something petty and it got quite serious and she said she wanted me out of the house (I was staying with her).

Anyway, I'm in the front room sitting down and she walks in from the kitchen saying...."Haven't you gone ye....."

Cue her seeing her unusually shy cat sitting comfortably on my lap and purring at her. She loved it and said her cat had never liked any of her friends or ex-boyfriends before. Still can't believe how I did it considering I'm so allergic of cats that I was literally holding back about a thousand sneezes at that point.

Barmy story, but I have a lot to be thank cats for.
