I think he is, and that he'd walk into any team in the world. I appreciate at 29 he should have done a lot more but I feel he's been unlucky with career choices. Barcelona, you can write off, it was a disaster from the start. He can, imo, be single-handedly held responsible for the rise of Villareal from notorierty to respected CL participants.
He finally seems to be doing at international level, and has performed (away from most of our eyes at club level) for Boca to a standard that is difficult to appreciate but I'm going to accept as 'decent'. I love the bloke and want his babies.

Riquelme - one of the best players in the world? Post #2
dunno about the temperment, but he's a class act on the field  through balls that can rip a defence to pieces, vision to make those passes and obviously his FK ability
definitely has been the main reason why Villarreal are thought more highly of in Europe, but as you say a bit unlucky with Barca and his career choices. I think he won the Copa Libertadores for Boca as well when he was on loan from Villarreal?

Just a shame he's domestic career is being wasted at the moment, he should be gracing the CL stage but its not going to happen as long as he stays at Villareal, I think a big club should take a gamble on him in January
Robinho and Messi the best in the world for me right now

He should have stayed at Boca (the club he loves) for the Club World Championship instead of returning to Spain. It wasn't his fault though as the Spanish club didn't want to extend his loan spell at Boca.

Shame really, because he should be playing somewhere, he's absolutely supreme when he wants to be. When you look at Elano adapting quickly to the Premiership if you have the right system, Riquelme could do an even better job. Surprised nobody has taken a punt on him at any stage of his career, because there must have been several chances to take him already.
A set-piece master too.
I could watch him play all day.

Boca probably couldn't, and I think his Spanish team wanted to sell him rather than loan him again.

wouldn't be surprised if teams with low creativity have a go for him in the new window, although he probably needs the right club. Don't think something like a relegation battle would be a good thing for him to go into, maybe a team who are mid-table or something in the Premiership
