Saw American Gangster last night, was pretty good, I was maybe expecting a little more but it still a very good movie, plus Denzel is awesome.

Saw Beowolf today, by god it was good.
Really worth seeing the 3d version if the cinema do it for you.

Everyone mentioning Pan's Labyrinth. Why ? Was ok but hardly 'best film' material for me

The rest sadly was a morass of cheap satire, lazy plotting and shock-tactic bloodletting.
Pity. Think they were onto something with that start.
| The first bit was good, yeah, until they decided that having one zombie chasing Robert Carlyle wasn't good enough, so they decided to get about a million doing it as if it was Trigger Happy TV or something. I started laughing then, and didn't really stop until the end of the film.

| This man got it right.
Taken as a normal film it's fairly average with a couple of decent set pieces. Taken in 3d it's fecking immense.
Sooooo going to watch that journey to the centre of the earth next year. Brendan Fraser + 3d = goodness.

Also saw American Gangster lastnite. Very good movie. story lacking any real depth as you can tell they just glossed over what really happened. Once again though Denzel carried the whole movie although it was pretty well made by ridley. Russell's accent was poor.
Denzel is King btw.

What's the deal with 3d technology? Can films be 'remastered' as it were? Watching it in the cinema I just couldn't stop thinking '**** me, Lord of the Rings would be INCREDIBLE like this'.

Probably pick from one of these five:
- Bobby (really enjoyed that actually)
- Last King of Scotland
- Pans Labyrinth (is that not 2006 though?)
- Letters From Iwo Jima (much better than Flags of My Fathers IMO)
- 300
Honorable mentions
- Blood Diamond
- Reign Over Me
- A Night at the Museum
- The Prestige
- Little Miss Sunshine | Yep, Boaby was a surprise hit for me; loved it.
And Letters From Iwo Jima was stunning - nearly had me in tears!
Can't believe the lack of The Departed in this thread (or was that last year?)
