is that learn spanish thing actually decent? site looks a bit cheap really, would end up costing £100 or so but if it was legit then it'd be worth it really, would rather spend £100 on a resource ill learn and gain from than some £30 Cd-Rom from tescos that'll have me saying DONDE EST SUPERMERKET!
Have you checked your local library? Mine had loads of Spanish language CDs.

That's perfect, was afraid you were just learning Schweizerdeutsch.
Swiss German is easy. Just change the sound of all your vowels, join all the words in a sentence together, develop a speech impedement and you're away
I also find that talking to a pretty girl helps as well. Any time I chat to a lovely looking foreign girl I always try and get a few phrases out of them.
My brother tried the same thing when with a German girl and she only taught him German pillow talk.
This was fine until we had a 15 year old German exchange girl in our house and all he could do was describe in intimate detail what he'd like to do to her

If you want a painless introduction to the language, get the Michel Thomas foundation course on audio CD (can purchase relatively cheaply from ebay). It teaches at least 4 tenses and gives you some speaking confidence relatively quickly. By the end of cd 2 you'll know how to say.
What impression do you have of the political and economic situation in Spain right now?...for example
Obviously you should supplement your studies by trying to listen to podcasts/dvd's and reading simple texts for reading comprehension.
The best way to learn a language is to familiarize yourself with the basics (by a grammar book and a bilingual dictionary, maybe some cds), and then travel to a country where they speak the language. Men have an advantage in learning languages -- it's our job to convince women to sleep with us. As long as you go somewhere with a liberal culture and good-looking women, you'll learn the language in no time.
