Similar to what Bert is saying the key for me is immersion so I read german books, watch German TV and spend a fair bit of time in a German speaking country. On top of that I do stuff like go shopping but speak German to Corinne. Find it easier to remember if I stick to a particular activity before moving onto the next.

I can't learn jack unless I write it down. When I write it, it'll stick most of the time.

German. I know it's different but I figured it'll be more useful and I'll just learn the differences once I live there. Having said that I know a few German guys there and they only speak German and get along fine.

If you teach it to someone it's easier to remember. Even if it ain't a person. My goldfish now know how to ask for drinks in Spanish

is that learn spanish thing actually decent? site looks a bit cheap really, would end up costing £100 or so but if it was legit then it'd be worth it really, would rather spend £100 on a resource ill learn and gain from than some £30 Cd-Rom from tescos that'll have me saying DONDE EST SUPERMERKET!
