As bad a lunge as it was, I don't think the FA took any further action. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Not sure they could, the referee booked him and therefore dealt with the incident.

Laughable that anyone suggests there was anything wrong with Essien's tackle, unless you're not allowed to win the ball just under two feet off the ground cleanly these days.

Essien's got exactly what it deserved imo - a yellow.

Portuguese FA
why you bring them into this they had zero to do with it ,

Uefa punished him I made the comment about the English fa as these type tackle's go unpunished in the prem so players think they can get away with doing it ,

Hence Essein and Barton this stuff should be stamped out of football ,

I am all for a solid tackle where player a takes the ball and takes the man as well hitting him hard ,

But this cowardly act of late is disgraceful and a excellent example to young kids I think not ,

That sounds reasonable - but I wonder if it was because it was a repeat offence or because the second incident was uglier?
I suspect the latter.

iirc correctly, although it was a disgraceful incident, it wasn't really a "stamp" - that truly would be horrific and potentially "life-threatening"!

Haven't seen it but I remember the tackle he made on Hamann in the CL, that one was deserving of a few matches but only saw a yellow IIRC.

Which UEFA then banned him for iirc (unlike, say a Shevchenko headbutt in a Milan derby the previous season?)

Good to see UEFA doing this.

Certainly looked like he deserved it after watching the tackle.

Disgusting.

This tackle on Brown was an utter disgrace and personally, I am very pleased to see Binya get a bigger than normal punishment.

Just what the dirty bastard deserved tbf.

IMO he was actually trying to cause damage to Brown for the sake of it and even after he'd made the contact with the bottom of his boot onto Brown's shin, he clearly continued to apply downward pressure as if trying to snap Brown's leg.

Hope he gets his leg broken in 6 places in the next game he plays and can never walk again.
