Probably they were up and about seeing as it was the first game but they look a decent enough side. Besides, it was an improvement on pre-season where Wellington did actually win,

I was at the Perth game yesterday. We played decent but a fair bit of room for improvement. New defenders Topor-Stanley and Djulbic played tops. Nikita Rukaystya looks a handful upfront too.

Coyne and Prentice were poor.

how the **** Tiatto escaped without even a booking is mind boggling.
Yeh he should be racking up atleast 1 a match for his tackles.

QUEENSLAND marquee signing Craig Moore won't change his tackling style despite being blasted by Roar coach Frank Farina for the unsavoury challenge on Adelaide United striker Nathan Burns that saw the former Australia defender sent off on Saturday night.

But Moore concedes that he and fellow recruit Danny Tiatto, who could join Moore on the sidelines this weekend if cited by Football Federation Australia for an ugly tackle on Bruce Djite, may need time to adapt to different interpretations of the rules by Australian officials.

The incident involving Tiatto escaped the attention of the match officials at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

But replays clearly showed the former Leicester City midfield player stepping on Djite's legs.

Tiatto and Roar coach Frank Farina declined to comment on the unsavoury incident today, but Moore defended the 34-year-old former Socceroos player.

"I think Danny throughout his career has been a hard player and I think that was the case again at the weekend," Moore said today.

"Physically, he enjoys those battles. Maybe, if anything, we need to take a step back at times and realise that there are differences.

"But at the end of the day, it is stock standard across the world: a bad tackle is a bad tackle."

FFA officials view tapes of all matches today, with the much talked about Tiatto tackle expected to come under scrutiny.

Moore said he wouldn't be changing his tackling style following the red card, despite receiving a dressing down from Farina.

"Frank obviously had discussions with myself today," Moore said.

"I felt as if I was back at school getting sent to the headmaster.

"He's in no uncertain terms put across that obviously these things won't be accepted and everything needs to be done in a controlled manner."

Moore apologised publicly for his reaction to the red card on his debut, in which he stood over Burns and delivered an animated verbal blast.

Moore will automatically miss the match against Newcastle Jets on Sunday as a result of the red card.

Farina crying because one of his players is in trouble after making a "challenge" that appears to the naked eye like he tried to break the blokes legs.

Pretty sure every other major code has video citing, get over it Farina.

Long time no see for this thread.

Culina doing no better than Butcher, but interesting to see that they have signed Michael Bridges to try and improve their proficiency in front of goal.

This thread is dying on its arse. :thdn:

I'll revive it by saying the MLS commissioner on Friday said it's hoped that in the next couple of weeks they'll finalize a Pan-Pacific cup involving our league, your league and some other Asian leagues (speculation is Japan and China, surprise)

yeah, the idea has been getting some press over here.

the only thing i don't like about the idea is that for some absurd reason the LA Galaxy will automatically qualify for the tournament every season.
