I don't know anything about him outside of his Wigan career, so that's what I've judged him on. I'm not going to say he's the wrong man for the job before he's even managed a match yet, but I'm disappointed to be honest. Albeit relieved since last I heard Souness was favourite.

jewell is a great manager, the best we could get.
his personality is perfect for the job, and he gets the best out of players.

Jewell probably will do well. He's a rigid 4-4-2 man all the way, no room for manoeuvre whatsoever - even if that means playing players out of position to fit the formation when using the same players in another formation would seem the more sensible choice.
As a tactician he leaves a lot to be desired. If plan (a) isnt working it's a case of just booting the ball as far as you can hoping that it might take a funny bounce and cause a **** up in the oppositions defence.

This is quite appropriate, because whenever I see Paul Jewell I always think of a Potatoe.

Terrible appointment imo, I shouldn't be surprised but I was genuinely hopefull that this time they wouldn't pick a nobody.Oh well, there's still hope in the fact that the betting only seems to be suspended because Johny Giles said something about Jewell and talking about him on an extended show on the radio tomorrow. Hopefully there's wires crossed and we don't have to settle for a man who'se managed Wigan Athletic and Bradford.

Did Jack Charlton ever manage before or infact after managing Ireland?

| Our last managed picked Caleb Folan because he's annoying and "he stands on people's feet". Please tell me he left Wigan because of a falling out with Jewell.
