we're 3rd atm and it looks like it's gonna stay that way. if we had of won today we might of had a shot of getting into the 2nd seeds pot by moving up past about three more european teams.

Can I just say that I'm going to put a lot of money on Chris Hutchins taking over after jewell eventually leaves Ireland and then getting sacked after 5 months?
Safe as houses, that bet, wonder if they suspended betting on the manager after next as well?

That top 4 capped players is embarassing Quote:
While Jewell, Gerald Houllier and Terry Venables remain the clear front runners, it has emerged that current Finland supremo and ex-Blackburn boss Roy Hodgson would relish the role and has some support within the current Irish dressing room.
Yet Hodgson still has the chance of leading Finland to Euro 2008 and even if they fail to achieve the victory they need in Portugal next Wednesday, his employers are keen to agree a new deal with the out of contract Englishman while acknowledging the alternative attractions.
"It's natural that he has been talked about for the Ireland job because he is a top coach," stated Timo Walden of the Finnish FA.
"But we have opened dis-cussions with Roy over a new contract.."
- Daniel McDonnell
| I feel bad saying this, but 'mon Finland not qualifying for Euro2008. Hodgson would be perfect.
Interesting that it says he has support in the dressing room. I can't think of anyone who would have worked with him before (Duff wouldn't have played under him, right?), so perhaps a player has said something to one of the hacks. Hopefully they speak up again when the players meet with Delaney and put forward their candidate. I've little doubt their candidate will be Terry "'Public of Eire" Venables though, as he'll let them play drunk.

Duff was playing for Blackburn the season they went down, 1998 wasn't it?
When did Hodgson leave Blackburn?
If the dates work out, it was too long ago now and Duff is a cripple.
Would obviously much prefer Hodgson to the others in that article.
