I hope not.

Although if he turns it down they will probably plump for someone even more average. Souness out of work?

How do they get the Scottish player quota past the EU laws then? </BLOCKQUOTE>

I think if 14 (?) Premiership clubs voted to introduce an English player quota there would be nothing anyone could do.

they cant enforce it on the other clubs though? it could possibly be 'recommended' by the FA.

Discrimination doesnt matter if the majority want to carry it out?

It's worked in Rugby League for years with the quote system and salary cap, all the clubs agreed to limit how many foreign players they can sign and how much they'll pay them.

How comes they have a quota on homegrown players for CL squad. I know it's slightly diferent to what Coppell wants but how do they get this by EU law?

I agree with Ter, subs should be increased to 7 with a minimum of 4/5 English players in the 18, 2/3 of them U21.

Also agree with everyone saying England are crap because of the managers, but it can only benefit English players to be getting in the match squads so I don't see why not.

Don't think many clubs would struggle to get 4 English players in a squad of 18 tbh.

his comments about skill levels of young players are more interesting...especially in line with a lot of comments I've seen recently about scouts being told to focus on power and pace in kids rather than skills. The chance of another Scholes or Nevin breaking through much smaller these days as clubs chase the next Micah Richards.
