Good luck to the lad, and I guess this helps us survive financially. Heck of a blow on the field though.
That's the interest payments covered for a few months then.

I expect us to make a massive signing now on the back of this.........

Good luck to the lad and here's to hoping for a storming season and a decent sell on clause in the new contract!!!

It's quite odd to see other fans moaning about their team/board etc, thinking about it. Most clubs have their ups and downs etc, but we have been a joke of a club for almost a decade now. If we aren't fighting relegation, we are trying to stop the club going under. Often we are doing both.

Preferred it when we were losing to the likes of Cardiff at the Millenium tbh.

I blame Chris Wright.
He came out of the whole debacle with cash in his pocket and the board carrying the can for his folly.
We've been struggling ever since.
The other key factor to point out here is that if we were a more viable opportunity, then I am sure we'd have had a much bigger financial investor sniffing around.
As it is, an 18k ground with no chance of increasing and having Chelsea and Fulham as neighbours is never going to make us an attractive option.

He apparently has a younger brother in the Arsenal academy, so he may find settling in a little easier then other foreigners. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Rui Fonte is the one at Arsenal. Must be decent coming from Benfica.

Also, and this comes hand in hand with our financial position, but we haven't even shown any promise in the league.
If we had a strong youth team and a good manager pulling in results above our station, then.... well you know the rest.

Tbf, I have reservations about Olly taking teams to "the next level", but his last two seasons with us saw us just miss the play-offs, then mid-table iirc. I know some fans were on his back (daftly), but we really shouldn't have ditched him. Hasn't done us any favours, put it that way.

I agree about Olly.
We may not have been the best squad in the league by a long way, but he galvanised the team, ditto with what he has done at Plymouth.
I think the board had their hand forced though and so he had to go.
