Disagree with those examples

Although Nugent probably wasn't worth six million, he hasn't really had a chance to prove himself in the Premier League yet. He was good for Preston until everyone started heavily marking him, which allowed Preston's other forwards to wreak havoc and over-achieve. Maybe

As for Woodgate, he's in my opinion the best defender outside the top clubs in the Premiership, could easily have been worth £15 million but Real Madrid foolishly let him go as soon as he was starting to get back to his best. </BLOCKQUOTE>

at the risk of sounding bias, i'd rate Lescott over Woodgate anyday tbf.

Nugent is a Championship player, Even Healy has struggled to get into the premiership, and while i feel Nugent may of been a premiership striker of the future, he's a few years to early for it, and by taking the chance to jump so soon, it may have a negative effect for him in the near future </BLOCKQUOTE>

Nugent was miles better in the Championship than Healy. It might not work out for Nugent but you can't say for definite that he's not good enough, far too early in his top division career.

There were times towards the end of last season where I wanted Paul Simpson to take over from Pearce

13 months ago I remember Cardiff fans celebrating that West Brom didn't poach Dave Jones.

West Brom ended up being stuck with Tony Mowbray

What Nugent needs to do to make it in the prem is get stronger, from the few matches he's played in the prem, i've noticed he gets pushed off the ball far to easy now.

I love the fact that three managers this season have left or been sacked after playing hull city \o/

Those in question are Peter Taylor, Steve Cotteril and Paul Simpson

I think you will find it was the Chairman who sold him.

Is this a good or a bad thing?

From Football365:

What Fool Would Take A Manager`s Job In The Championship?

There were Preston fans on Sky Sports News within hours of Paul Simpson's sacking on Tuesday saying he was the worst manager in their history. This is the club that was in the equivalent of League Two just 12 seasons ago.

There were Burnley fans writing on forums that Steve Cotterill had to go because he would never take them to 'the next level'. This is the same club that were a game away from losing their Football League status just 20 years ago.

After losing at home to Sheffield Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, Ian Holloway had a 20-minute confrontation with a fan who obviously felt that a position in the top ten of the Championship was not good enough. This is a club that has never been in football's top flight.

This week Preston became the sixth Championship club this season to change their manager. Adrian Boothroyd is now the longest-serving boss in that division and he has been in his post since March 2005. That, for want of a better word, is mental.

Forget the Premiership, this is where the real pressure comes on managers from chairmen and fans with Premiership ideas above their station. Every season, all but a handful of clubs in that division think that they can at least reach the play-offs. Anything less for more than one season is sacking form.

Every club is so, so desperate for that one ridiculously lucrative season in the top flight that they are prepared to change their manager every year in the hope of happening upon the magic combination to unlock the door.

Just standing still is no longer enough - you have to be moving upwards and onwards regardless of small matters like budgets. Watch this space for news that Gary Johnson is under pressure at Bristol City for failing to match early-season form or for Alan Pardew to be angrily confronted the minute that Charlton drop out of the top eight.

I was at Hillsborough on Saturday as Sheffield Wednesday beat Southampton 5-0. Just a few weeks ago, the Owls were bottom of the table having lost their opening six games. It would have been too easy to sack Laws but the board sensibly realised that sacking a good manager less than a year after he took over would be pointless. Did they not realise that is the norm in the Championship?

Sarah Winterburn
Just love that bottom paragraph

Yeah, we're such a 'shining' example in not sacking your manager...oh wait, we gave Paul Sturrock a 4 year contract then promptly sacked him a month later didn't we? 'Sensible board' indeed.

If he could sort out the defensive side Mowbray could be a great manager. Unfortunately i dont think he's got it in him.
