The guy at the bar isn't a Leotardo, and Bobby never said anything about "it going black". He just said you don't know when it's coming. Go back and check for yourself. Both of these ideas are made-up blog fuelled rubbish.
The guy at the bar is completely unknown (an X factor if you will), as intended by Chase, he goes into the toilet (a clear Godfather reference) and doesn't reappear, and the two black guys are clearly meant as a reference to series 1 where two black guys tried to clip Tony.
It's all meant to unnerve and unsettle you, but leaves the door wide open. Brilliantly written and brilliantly executed.

To me that was the real brilliance of it. To have such an open ending still feel so conclusive was superb. There really wasn't that feeling of it being cynically left open for commercial reasons. It felt like Chase completely on his own terms.

Exactly. Chase had the guts to do it this way and kudos to him for that.
In fact, if you want to look for a "definitive ending" as so many people wish for, the closest you can get based on what the last episode gives us in the way of pure fact and without insinuation is that Tony is indicted by the FBI and looking at some serious jail time. Of course, what would happen between then and the trial is all up for grabs.

yeah im with those who think that chase played that final scene perfectly, the tension was building up, you think the guy in the members only jacket (members only the club in the second ep of the 6th season when tony was in the dream sequence), then the black dudes, another reference to the first season when junior tried to have tony whacked and used the black guys.
overalll a great way to end the show, and the fact that people are saying he's dead/not dead, means its bound to cause debate for a long time yet.
i didnt realise that sil killed carlos' brother though, was that the guy he strangled or was it in an earlier series?
and was his son, who was caught for selling Ex, was that the kid who A.J was hanging with when he was trying to get out of his depression?

I'd just like to add that it was indeed a fantastic way to end it. As has been mentioned, all the stuff going on in the final scene was an indication of just how paranoid life had become for Tony. Despite having a feeling in the back of my mind that this was the case, i was still, literally, on the edge of my seat and my heart was bloody pounding!
Also loved the cat stuff, so ****ing funny from something so incidental in such a hyped last episode.

Yeah, the last episode was brilliant. As was the whole second half of series six, actually.
And a brilliantly ambiguous ending too.

The Sopranos is the best television series of all time for me. Have seen every episode from the beginning and have watched quite a few of them several times. It was a great ending and good to see the show go out on a high.
How highly do you all rate TS?

Best show I've ever seen. It's only had one really bad episode IMO (the last "dream" one, think it was season 6), and I've got every one on DVD.
The West Wing had some horrible characters that turned me right off it, ER is on the decline, 24 went downhill after the first season, Lost has a few flat spots and I never got into SIx Feet Under, so of the modern acclaimed shows, Sopranos stands far above the rest.
I've enjoyed shows more, but none has impressed me as much as Sopranos.
