1. What is an "Optician"

Non-medical eye specialist. Trained at university and then in practice through a pre-reg program.

2. What is an "Optomotrist"

Eye doctor.

3. Who are the most qualified people within a practise - and why do you think that is?

Depends on the practice. If there is an eye doctor there it would be him, but I suspect most practices simply have opticians and refer to hospitals for anything serious.

4. Which opticians do you frequent, and why?

None. My brother is a newly qualified optician, so he checks my eyes when I see him.

Ok, spoke to my brother. I was confused. He's an optometrist, which is not what I said it was. Yes, the senior optometrist is the highest qualified in the practice and "Optician" is really just a trade name for the benefit of the public. Some dispensers try to call themselves opticians as well, however.

1 - eye person. does all the softly spoken "one.... or two? and now three..... or four?" stuff then flashes some mental light in your face so all your eye veins float around the place

2 - no idea. something to do with cars?
