Areally simplictic camcorder/video camera question....
First off let me just say i despise the things and have done well in not having a video archive of my life to date but having a child changes things, well at least it does for the missus.
So we have one of those camcorders that takes those little dvds, 1.4gb iirc. We want to transfer the stuff on this little disc onto another bigger disc via my laptop, the problem being my laptop doesnt have a disc tray just a slot and it wont accept the little disc.
Is there a cable I can by like the one I have for my digital camera to connect my camcorder to my laptop?

I dont know how old this camcorder is we got given it by the missus parents but do camcorders generally still use disc, I would have thought they just had 'memory' these days rather then ****ing about with a disc?

Well, I'm still living in the world of digital tape (so primitive), and I haven't done any computer video editing since about 2003, but in those heady days, firewire cables were the go. Not all computers have the firewire input, however. Well, I don't think they do.
