tbf the standard even started dropping by the end of the fourth series, hopefully the break has given them a chance to freshen up again.

The last episode in season 4 is the pinnacle of Futurama. Take your pick of classics that season; The Farnsworth Parabox, Jurassic Bark, Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, The Sting. I could go on.

Wll it started as a fresh and original comedy series and by the end they were relying on cliched sentimental pap - the leela- fry relationship, fry's dog etc (in the fourth series literally every other episode was of this mould) and the characters that were once great were bordering on self-parody by the end with all the quirky aspects played up and little of the charm that originally went with it (Zoidberg especiialy went from one of the best characters to one of the worst).
Still better than most things even when not at it's best though.

Some characters benefitted from development, Zoidberg and Hermes hating each other was brilliant. I am concerned about Bender becoming too big, but if you watch season 1 followed by 4, the quality difference is clear in the latter's favour. Three Hundred Big Boys, that was ****ing brilliant. Episodes like The Series Has Landed and I, Roommate let down season 1.

This is a friendly discussion with 2 Futurama fans. I may not agree with what he says but fair play
