Default Using weight sensors in flooring?

As an anti-burglar measure, is it technically viable? And it is financially affordable?

Typically, the weight sensors should be able to pick up an 'extra weight' in home and raise an alarm..is that possible?

you could have pressure sensors, much like ones that open automatic doors, yes.

ah..ok! If you would know, is there a limit on them, like doors could be made to open for anyone over the weight of 50kg (as an example?).

Also, like I said, is it financially affordable or could it be really expensive for a normal house-hold?

It is...but in order to market it to everyday people, I have a feeling that it could be a little complicated and expensive option!

Just get an ED-209 to guard your house. No problems.

The floor would have to be solid. No give. So that it can be reliable.

People would have to lift up their carpets to install it. Not an attractive option.

Motion sensors are still the best thing. I mean what if a trained monkey was used to rob your house? It would just jump around the rooms using the furniture to step on.

SD: Thats a very enticing option

Ranjith: Good point about the flooring being solid. But fitting this alarm system is one of the things that can be once done and forgotten about. As for the trained monkey thing, never heard of such a case, but I guess its possible.

In essence, the alarm is supposed to be 'intelligent'; so it can differentiate between people who live in the house and burglars. And the alarm, if possible, should be on 24 hours a day. That kinda makes it a bit more difficult.

Laser Beams easily defeated by sexy chicks wearing tight black leather and a smoke bomb.
