Better to have a grid over the sensor wired to the mains that goes live when pressurised I guess.

How about pressure pads for all possible entry points to your home?
It would be for window sils, door steps etc.
It would be less intrusive than putting it in the house.

Would you have to weigh yourself every week to let the alarm system know so to keep letting you in the house?

Also, couldn't burglars that know such houses have these installed walk up to the front door with an arrangement of weights until they hit the correct one of a member of the household?

Fingerprint recognition would be better, and is already available...

@Ranjith: Well, I understand that it is intrusive, but except for the monkey example, it seems rather fool-proof to me.

@Willigogs: The idea is that it would detect any 'instantaneous' weight in the house. So if someone walks in through the door, the alarm could go off. The alarm could then be switched off by the owner using a code or his voice (Thats where registering audio pitches into the system comes into play).

A burglar would obviously would have access to neither.

And since this system would only alarm of instantaneous weight in the house, a person walking around cannot trigger it. So it can be kept on 24 hours a day!

I got a couple of lectures, but leave your views here..would be more than happy to discuss more
