Sadly it is true - but no I'm not still with her. The relationship didn't reach a second Valentine's Day.
That incident was the beginning of the end.
In her defence she wasn't a bad person, nor a bitch, she just wasn't quite right emotionally.
That sounds awful, I know. My friends used to remark that she seemed clingy and needy, which was probably true but not a terrible crime - I thought a bit of stability would eventually improve that.
The real problem was that once she'd perceived that she'd been wronged, she'd fall into a deep, irreversible mood - there was nothing that could change matters - even if became clear she had prematurely jumped to a wrong conclusion.
It was as though it was my fault for letting her fall into a bad mood in the first place. She was just incapable of recovering from initial disappointment.
The VD (that's Valentine's Day - not a good abbreviation really!) incident was the second such time I experienced this behaviour.
I'd invited her to spend Xmas at my home and join my extended family and close friends for our traditional Boxing Day meal.
All was good, very good in fact (she'd opened and loved her presents

), until my sister and her family came round late morning. After making a cuppa and getting out some snacks (we hadn't eaten and my sis wasn't staying) I took my niece outside to play on the trike I'd got her, while my gf was chatting to my sis and her husband.
They left after an hour and I started making lunch. Unfortunately gf had fallen into a bad mood at some point, partially because she was hungry and partially because I'd left her "alone" while I was in the garden with my niece.
Suddenly this was her "worst Xmas ever!"

She sulked for the rest of the day and the following morning demanded to go home - despite the arrangements for the day and all my family waiting to meet her.
This all makes her sound like a bitch, but really she wasn't.
