Blind - you'd still be able to have normal conversations, "watch" telly, listen to the radio... in fact there's little everyday stuff you can't do.
It would be terrible to lose your vision and you'd have to adapt, but I can't think of any everyday, important thing it would totally prevent you from doing. (?)
I know a deaf person however - his life has become a misery, he can't communicate with most people and can't hear his grandchildren's attempts to talk to him.
Needs subtitles for tv, can't listen to music...
he really struggles to find work, and is constantly ridiculed by people who actually think they are funny by distorting their mouths through nonsensical words and watching him struggle to read their lips, or being heckling right behind his back where he is oblivious.
