its to denote a male kind of channel. Its a good channel incidentally, stuff like question of sport, top gear, have I got news for you and other stuff worth watching.

The same idea as the Cadbury's Gorilla advert or naming a company 'EGG'. It has nothign to do with the product but it is a simple name/idea that people will remember...
