Watching the game Saturday, had my laptop on the arm-rest next to me. The goal mouth scramble happened, I was jerking about uncontrollably, then the goal was given and I was overcome and lept out of my chair. The laptop fell off with the power cable in.
It appears it bashed the base of the pin inside tha laptop, and f**ked it up. Putting the power cable in didn't register, but there's definitely power coming through the actual cable. A bit of choice wiggling of the pin made it give up on life and disappear somewhere inside my laptop.
Laptop itself is fine, just that when the battery runs out (51minutes) I can't get any power in it. Local repair place can't look at it till Wednesday. There's no chance of a big chain store or something being able to see it quicker is there? Not urgent, I'm just impatient.
My brother had a similar experience during a match. Was the FA Cup final this year and where our sofa was there was a sort of low handing light made of pure steal basically, Drogba scores and he jumps up (hes 6 foor 3 or so) smashes his head of the light and knocks himself out. To his credit I think he was still celebrating when knocked out (although it could have been a seisure type thing).

Think that is going to be a bugger to repair as that connector is usually attached to the actual motherboard :S
Things like this can be a pain yeah, I remember dropping my laptop and the USB mouse I had pushing the connecter inside and it happening to be right in line with the monitor connector on the motherboard. Sheered it right off and bent alot of the metal around it too. Took it into town to see if anyone had a suitable replacement motherboard and most shops eyes lit up with pound signs, so I did it myself...
