Well seeing as you have AVG, make sure you disable the scan (its defaulted to ON at bootup and will slow it down alot)

I've got a Dell Inspiron 6000, which iirc according to Dell's site I can't chuck more RAM into. But there is some RAM selling website (saw it recommended on here before) which has a filter system for loads of different makes and models of computer to give you the RAM you need and instructions to do it. Just can't remember the site

cheers Arjen, hopefully that will jog someone's memory. I don't want to have to fork out for another system in the next year or so if possible
