I organise footy for my work team every week. It easy to do through the summer as everyone loves to play.

Why is it that soon as winter comes people say they can play but drop out last minute leaving you down on numbers?

I've had 2 people come to me today that had to drop out:

Excuse A: I've got a slipped disc in my back and i cant play. He was ok yesterday but with the impending game hes suddenly injured? yeh right!

Excuse B: I forgot it was my mum's birthday.

I mean wtf, at least have the balls to say you cant be arsed to play.

Does anyone else have this problem organising football?

Is it outdoors then?

Otherwise i don't see what winter has to do with it. I prefer to play indoor 5 a-side in the winter as its cooler

I don't personally have this problem (I avoid organising for this very reason) but I've played 5/6 aside footy twice a week for a few years now and I've seen it first hand.

Surprisingly we had 8 players for our Monday night kick around this week, despite it being windy and rainy, but I know of at least 2 players that didn't turn up because of the weather. At least one of them had the decency to say that he didn't wanna get soaked.

The wednesday league team is interesting. Some players either don't turn up when it's cold/wet, or they don't turn up when we're playing one of the better teams in the league.

He's in work sending emails (works in a different office), im guessing a slipped disk doesnt stop you getting out of bed anymore?

We have exactly the same problem at our place. Played last night, and 2 players dropped out with only an hour to go, meaning we had to tap up a couple of ringers.

Luckily, they were pretty good and we ended up winning :cool:

Sucks though, you're not alone - some people are just flaky like that.

I scored this amazing scissor kick in five a side yesterday. Bruised my arse like a bastard when I hit the floor though

I played last Thursday night and it was bloody freezing. Made me have a cold and be in bed for most of the weekend. Doing the same tomorrow night.

Why not ask people on here if they want to play? Must be a fair few Mancs who are willing and able?
