quality game, I've still got my soccer 4 in 1 somewhere, never ever had the manual with the scores though so just kept guessing 2-0 until it let me play, sometimes it would take ages.

worse is when it asks for a word in a paragraph. for example page 62 paragraph 2 line 5 word 7.

I remember buying a game (might've been the original Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix?) which had this system. Except the game had recently been re-released on budget or something, so the manual had been repaginated and didn't match the words they asked for Had to wait weeks for them to send through a sheet which basically contained all the answers
