Hi, just had a letter through the post from SKY saying that my 12 month warranty of my Digital box is almost up.
If I want I can pay 5.99 a month or 59.99 one off fee for the next 12 months incase something happens. If I don't renew it and something happens, I will be charged a minimum call out fee of 72 quid.
Obviously there is going to bea lot of people on here with SKY so I was wondering do any of you renew your warranty after the first year?
Obviously if I don't and something happens it's at least 72 quid but if I do and nothing happens is it 60 quid wasted?
Just wondered everyones views. I'm not expecting a definitive answer on which I will decide whether or not to renew, just wondered veeryones thoughts.

You'd give up £60 to possibly save £12? Sounds like madness to me.
If it breaks, ring them and ask for a repair. When they specify how much it'll be, simply say you're not prepared to pay it and would like stop your subscription. Without fail, the operator will offer you a free service as a 'goodwill' gesture.
Don't bother mate. My second box for my multi-room recently broke after six years of service. I called up Sky, threatened to cancel the multi-room subscription, and they had a guy round two days later to replace the box, free of charge.
Yeah, they will do whatever to keep you as a customer or as a new customer.
I got a new subscription the otehr day. 1 HD box and 2 SKY+ boxes for £298.
I think I might have been able to drive them down further, but the listed price for all that was signicantly more.
Don't bother with extending warranties. Really not worth it. Warranties are massive scam.
