Never renewed mine, have had 2 boxes break, I phoned up they quoted x amount of money to fix, I asked for the cancellation department and all of a sudden they change their minds.

Had some guy ring us up the other day asking for us to take out warrenty. Told him down the phone that after being a customer for the last 15/16 years i should hope they value us enough to repair/replace it for free.
Which to be fair to Sky they always have when any of our boxes have broken before.

The Sky warranty is an even bigger con than most extended warranties.

This is as good a place to ask as any. On Tuesday night my Skybox switched itself to standby and no matter what I have tried, it won't shift from it and the red light remains smugly on.
It has happened a few times before, usually when it is raining heavily as on Tuesday, but in the past has fixed itself within a few minutes. This time it hasn't. Reckon it is the dish or the box?

Numerous times yeah That's what usually fixes it but this time it just won't change from standby.

Dont do it. If it broke after 13 or even 18 months you can still get it replaced (or repaired) for free.

You and me both
I guess people will just say to ring up and threaten to switch to Virgin etc but I'd not be at all comfortable doing that |
