It's just crap.

But as I say, come on you lion hearted heroes, if it wasn't for the English you'd be krauts etc etc.
Have to say I disagree with most of that. I find watching big games at the pub is really good fun if you get into it. And I quite like the way people who don't usually gaf about football get into it for a few weeks. I really think the tournament will be a much blander experience if England aren't there.

Also would be a disaster for my company (bookmaker) if England didn't qualify, would lose loads of business.

On the other hand I've backed McClaren to not be England manager on 31/12/07 at 8/11. Emotional hedge  But a value emotional hedge

Anyway someone explain my last post, why is everyone ignoring Macedonia v Croatia, I don't understand why that isn't just as important as the Russia game.

no, you're right. just that a Macedonia win is much less likely than Russia dropping points in Israel.

Don't think England will qualify and I'll be in the U.S. for the first 3 weeks of the tournament, so I've got mixed feelings about whether I would be completely happy for us to get through.

I didn't actually say anything about watching games in packed pubs being bad? Probably the most enjoyable aspect of England in a tournament imo.

England have still got a reasonable chance if Macedonia draw, though. If we beat Croatia by two goals we're through (assuming goal difference is the tie breaker). Chance of Croatia failing to win in Macedonia is not massively less likely than that of Russia failing to beat both Israel and Andorra.

I am right about the macedonia draw thing, yes?

Well actually it's a spread betting company so it's a bit different to most bookies. we have more running on the individual games than on who wins the tournament. If England got all the way to the final and won we'd certainly be up, unless England won every game 5-0 or something.

no. Croatia would need to lose. It's my fault - i've done the table wrong in opening post. Croatia are on 26 points, not 25.
