Talk of too-many foreign players in the senior game is the complete opposite of the actual problem imo. It's the pervasion of useless English coaches with antiquated methods and ideas in the youth game that is the problem - they should be killed and foreign coaches brought in to teach technique to the youngsters how to keep the ball and pick a pass.

Half of the recent managers England have apointed have been the ones the press wanted to see in as manager.

Graham Arnold masterminded a 1-1 draw between the Olyroos and North Korea last night to guide the Olyroos to the Olympics. He'd jump at the chance to manage the Poms.

Failing that, I'm sure the FA can afford the compensation to Queensland Roar to hire Frank Farina, that giant of international football management.

Comparing McClaren to Mourinho tactically just utterly hilarious.

Mourinho wouldn't come anyway, but he'd solve problems.

Superb athletes they maybe, but where is the individual skill, technique and flair ? We've been shown up by a good side tonight, but it's not exactly been a one off in recent years. And still, nothing has been learned from that - the same mistakes are made over and over again.
england haven't underachieved, we're just actually anywhere near as good as we like to think we are.

seriously BG, what did you even mean there? how are the press meant to 'walk the walk'? you want them to go and play the game themselves?
It's the journo's who seek the quotes from the players - almost giving them the rope to hang themselves which. With regards to the phrase I used - it was meant with regards to the players. Many are very happy to spout off to the media with what they are going to do, but when it comes to the crunch - they don't deliver. You'd think they'd have learned to keep their gobs shut by now.
