| I disagree, I have no problem with a foreign coach, but, for me, he has to speak english well, if nothing else its going to be a confused changing room if they have to translate his team talks and tactics, and i want to hear what he says at interviews, not what he's saying through his interpreter. Arguably it is still difficult to get the most out of a squad of players when you have the financial backing. You still need to go out and win and motivate.
| True, but i was thinking more about the available players a manager has, if you're a rich club and missing a Right Winger, you go out and buy one, if you can't afford to ( or, as in international management, you have a set pool of players ), you have to adapt, either by changing your tactics, or by using your players better, and i feel Joe would be better at this than Cappelo Quote: |
An urban myth this one. Yes the Real Madrid team were considered very defensive (more of an excuse peddled by the Real Madrid board as a reason to sack him?), but he can get his teams to play football.
| Well, i never said he couldn't get his teams playing, it's just that his tactics are defensive, and i want to see attacking football Quote: |
wtf? He didn't know anything about it. If that stains his character (the fact he knew nothing) for you, then it rules out 99.9% of football managers, whose characters will be stained for varying reasons.
| I think you misunderstood me on this point, i said I would be suprised if he didnt know anything, if he didn't, then this point is worthless, but this is just a bit of speculation on my part, hence it being the final point!
As I have said, I would not mind Cappelo being the next manager, its just there a few points that mark him down in my book.

Why do people assume that Fabio Capello would automatically go for a 4-2-3-1 with England? He did it Real Madrid, but I don't remember it being particularly associated with him before that.

And didn't he play that defensively with Real Madrid because, when he took over, they were an undisciplined, defensively naive shambles? I'm sure if he'd taken over a side who were solid at the back but had a problem scoring enough, he would've played differently.

But yeah, I kinda get that point, since I'm struggling to think of potential names. The Sheringham/Adams comparisons are essentially what I'm getting at.

Meanwhile, former England captain Paul Ince believes the FA should re-appoint Glenn Hoddle.
The 50-year-old was England boss for three years before being sacked in February 1999 after suggesting that disabled people were being punished for sins in a previous life.
Ince told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I wouldn't look any further than Hoddle. He did a very good job and he wasn't sacked for footballing reasons.
"The FA has got to forget about what happened years ago, they've got to be bold and brave.
"Hoddle is sharp, bright, meticulous and he's English, but whether the FA is prepared to go back is not my decision."
