They're pretty harmless and do come out with the odd decent song. Couldn't really listen to an album by them or anyone similar though as they tend to pay top pop songwriters (eg. Cathy [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=k88a_3NSZQQ]Dennis[/URL] ) for 3 or 4 songs (the singles), then scout round the bargain bin writers to fill the rest of the album with any old pap.
Usually make for ok Hits collections though

people always go on about writing songs being a negative if the performer doesnt do it themselves, I dont see why? Didnt Sinatra and Elvis write barely any of their songs? I dont get how your ability to write a song should have anything to do with how well you can sing one. I understand a song might be more heartfelt or whatever, but thats not usually the point people are making

| Yeah - but Sinatra and Presley were good singers and performers and had other talents (Elvis could play - his hip movements were controversial...), Sinatra could dance.
As someone pointed out very early on in this thread, Girls Aloud are awful live singers!
So they are the most successful girl band ever because they are good at having make-overs!

The snobbery towards pop music means that it seems to be uncool to listen to any pop artist whatsoever. There is good pop music out there it's just clogged up by James Morrison and Kaiser Chiefs et al being played all day, every day.
| couldn't have said it better myself.
always a place for decent pop music in my music collection, GA pretty much the best around right now. nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary, not the most talented vocalists around (although they're better than given credit for, Nadine especially) but they just make excellent pop songs. couldn't care less that they didn't write them.
