Filling your canvas with a custom pattern.
Hi Evil... Sorry, i've been away on holidays.
Create a new doc the size you want ONE square to be.
Reverse your swatch colours (D key).
Right-click the doc's titlebar and choose "Canvas Size". Set it to Width=200%. Apply.
Duplicate the layer.
Again change the canvas size, but this time make it Height=200%. And click the positioning grid square on the top left. Apply.
Click on the top layer in the palette and press Ctrl+I.
Press Ctrl+A.
In the Options Bar select the alignment setting of 'Bottom'.
Deselect.
You should now have a 4 square checker pattern.
Flatten the document.
Under the EDIT menu choose "Define Pattern". Name it and save it.
Open your 800x600 document and from the Toolbar choose the Paint Bucket. It's grouped with the Gradient Tool. (G key)
In the Options Bar for the paint bucket tool, on the far left, open the 'Fill' menu and choose 'Pattern'. Click the Pattern thumbnail image. Look in the list for your new checkered pattern. Select it.
Click the Paint Bucket tool anywhere on your canvas.
Your document should now be filled with the pattern. :B
