| But we're talking about players who have already been thrown into the full squad. If you're saying we should maybe hold back players longer, that's a completely different argument . You could also argue that other countries have the luxury of being able to do that, as they have more strength in depth (or at least so we're always being told). </BLOCKQUOTE>
Im giving Francis the benifit of the doubt, but that is exactly what he was saying.
Of course he is a ****** so he went about wording it in a half arsed way mentioned specific players name that dissprove his theory.

I think the U20 World Cup would be a good experience. If a senior player was still young enough.

What i would say is that the squads should be a lot more flexible. One of the things Toshack has done with Wales is to ensure that there is no real distinction between the Full and u21 squads. If they're both in the same place in the international calendar, then they'll both train together. Some games the players able to play in both will be involved with the u21s, others the full squad.
There are certainly players. like Micah Richards and Theo Walcott who'd benefit from this kind of situation, there are others, like Rooney who really wouldn't.
I'd say it's something England should seriously consider, however, it shouldn't be with players who have already shown themselves to be a vital member of the First Eleven that are of eligible age, which would rule Rooney out.

| I'm not disputing that at all, but what happens if/when Neville is back at full fitness and still capable of International football?
What happens when both Rio and Terry are fully fit again? Should Micah be called up to the Seniors and be a squad player, or should he be getting called up to the u21s while still eligible and likely to be a starter?

| He's looked good in the games where we've been comfortable, and he's looked a bit naive and lacking positional sense when we've been under pressure. He's basically a great talent, who's still got a lot to learn to become a great player.

| It's his big weakness. Generally, his strength and pace mean he can recover his mistakes, but games like last night really show up what he's got to learn.
He's basically like a young Sol Campbell, who had a similar problem.
