Default Disappearing levels

Hi, I have tried to follow a few tutorials on this site and others specifically regarding the use of levels. but when I go to adjust levels there is nothing showing in the graph. i.e create a shape, save selection as channel, apply gaussian blur, adjust levels to tighten radius etc. On going to adjust levels there is nothing to adjust. I got it to work once but since then zero. I am using version 7.0, I have downloaded the trial version of version 8 cs with the same result. can anyone help me please?

Hi redferret. Somehow your question escaped my notice last weekend. Can you bring up a levels dialog and take a screen shot of it, use the Save For Web... feature to turn it into a GIF or JPEG and post it here? That way we could see what you are looking at and give some more directed advice. For example here's what levels looks like on my computer. The little triangles are sliding adjustments.

Sorry for the delay in getting to your question!

I suggest that if you're seeing just a flat levels readout, you check to make sure you have the proper channel activated (clicked on/selected). It sounds to me that you're on a layer/channel that has only a single colour value on it; which is the only thing that would produce a flat/empty level readout.

There is also the possibility of a disply drivers bug: the levels dialog box is all black...

Try to update your graphic cards' drivers.
