Megabus is okay

National Express do some cheap deals occasionally

Train may be expensive, but is quicker and more comfortable than coach.

1000 miles are you going three times?

Can't understand why anybody would willingly use public transport when they have a car.

This is why sat-nave systems are overated, or are you planning on coming back to Manchester to sleep each night?

No-one's mentioned flying? It's probably cheaper than the train, if not easier or more pleasant.
