Has anyone been there/lived there/knows someone who has been or lived there in the past year or so?
It's been three years since we left and I was wondering how it has changed? More built-up? More expensive? Still as easy to get around? Has the pollution got to the point where it is totally insufferable? Is China leading it now with an iron fist?
My Mum and Dad are living there at the moment. Not sure how much they can help as they wern't there 3 years ago, but i'll try to find some answers for you if you like?
pollution still horrible... if you plan on playing football, dont play in happy valley because it hurts your lungs more than smoking. china hasn't really done much here, other then sending loads of mainlanders, and making us lots of money.
Oh, miss the Hong Kong times. Lived there for 5 years+ in the mid-90s. Great city. Not been back since 1999 but a few friends have, apart from not being as many expats they said still good, still good bars too and that pollution was ace I used to live in Causway Bay which is particulay polluted. I wore that like a badge of honour
Just wondering what makes Hong Kong so appealing seeing the glowing reviews here, I've been there a few times (latest in 03) and perhaps the constant bustle and the vestiges of old Chinese tradition just isn't that endearing to me. Cantonese is an amazing language though, fair enough.
