Breaking with tradition, South Africa will be competing with the other African countries during World Cup qualifications. They will be the first host country in 70 years to participate in their own qualifying competition. The reason? The games are also being used to determine the field for the 2010 Nations Cup finals in Angola.

It's odd, if their final placing in a group isnt going to "count" as a World Cup space it means a slightly weaker side might have a chance from finishing 2nd in their group. Obviously, they'll still have to have a normal ranking for African Nations Cup reasons. Strange

if they're not counting SA results then will display qualifying tables after each round minus SA results or take them off at the end. Like 2 sets of tables. Not had to minus SA results but as the rounds tick by it'll be easier having 2 sets of tables to reflect real standings
