if i'm going on a trip and need to get directions, i usually just go to the aa website and go to the route planner and print out my directions of that, much easier then trying to read it off a map, although i have often toyed with the idea of getting a sat nav, but i'd prob only really need it once or twice a year, IF that, so im gonna wait till the psp sat nav thingy comes out and maybe invest in that if its a cheap price, if not, ill stick to the aa.com
Most of the people saying they're not worth it dont seem to be considering how handy they are for finding an actual address.
Its all very well and good being able to find your way from London to Liverpool using road signs, however when you get to Liverpool and need to find a specific address they come in very useful.
My job involves driving to various address on a daily basis so i tend to just turn it on once i get to the desired town. Also helpful is the fact that they calculate your mileage and provide a very accurate arrival time.
