Very handy for long journeys and weird places you dont know who to find... or delivery men... etc.
Mines in the cupboard
I have a rather expensive cupboard full of electronic equipment it seems.

I actually used mine for traffic jam avoidance until the traffic bit broke

I don't know why you pay that much for a GPS. You can get a good one for 150-200 pound tops.

I share one with my dad and we find it useful.
You can normally find your way to a town/city ok but its when you need to find a street that it makes it easier.

It's great for the lazy. I've driven to a lot of places recently that I've never been to before so it came in very handy.
Although I didn't pay for mine.

Maps are useful you have a (non-female) passenger so you dont have to pull over every 12 seconds. Also maps are harder to read for city centres...

I find you should skim the local map before going there.
My TomTom has taken me to the occasional closed road and in one instance an plush large farmhouse where a road should have been.
Otherwise its pretty useful since I'm in the car everyday and clock up loads of miles.
